"Sowing the Seeds of Harmony through Nature"
PGC Members were fortunate to be able to tour the enchanted gardens of Chanticleer on a recent trip arranged by club member and former president Brenda Aubert. The weather was perfect for their guided tour of the grounds and the Rosengarten house built in 1913. Afterwards, the group enjoyed the friendship of their fellow gardeners over lunch at Christopher's in Wayne.
Parkland Garden Club members had the opportunity recently to tour the fabulous English Cottage Garden property of Pamela Hubbard. Our gracious host Pamela along with her grandson, Jon, guided us through her serenity garden, the long border and pond, as well as the kitchen garden and rain garden. We enjoyed the miniature gardens that Jon created throughout the property. Her flowering meadow and gazebo provided a beautiful spot to rest and relax. The group and our hosts were delighted to see wildlife on the edges of the property, including a black bear who was on a leisurely stroll! After the tour, members had lunch at a local eatery.
PGC members attended a workshop at Eagle Point Farm in Trexlertown presented by Kirk Brown on a chilly May 17th. Kirk showed samples of different plants and pointed out various color combinations and growth patterns that work well in containers. Members were encouraged to include at least one edible plant in their creations. Gayle Ganser, owner of Eagle Point, was on hand to assist in filling containers with fresh soil and then offered members local wine and sangria from Vynecrest It was an enjoyable and informative workshop!
