Community Garden Partnership

About this activity:

In conjunction with the library and the Allentown West Rotary Club, PGC members volunteer to maintain six raised garden beds as a program to inspire gardening in the community. The produce will be donated to area food pantries or used for classes.

Community Garden Final Clean Up November 4, 2023

PGC members and Rotarian volunteers met at the Cedarbrook plot to clear out the last of the vegetation and prepare the plot for the cold winter ahead. Even with some of the challenges early in the season including a late spring frost, over 1260 pounds of food was harvested and donated in the community.

Planting at Willow Haven Farm March 23, 2023

Rotarians and Parkland Garden Club members Gail Micca and Helen Papathanasiou, along with PGC President Claire Kukielka and Rotarian Diana Dunn helped local CSA Farmer Reuben DeMaster at Willow Haven Farm in New Tripoli, PA on March 23rd. They helped transplant 600 peppers and tomatoes. Four thousand seeds were also planted. Farmer Reuben works with Northwestern Interact as they volunteer on the farm. Willow Haven donates plants to West Allentown Rotary Club’s Green Thumbs Garden Project. The farm also donates to local pantries when they have excess.
